's Liverpool Maritime Festival
in Conjunction with Folk on the Dock Celebrating Liverpool’s rich Music and Maritime History.
The historic centre and docklands of Liverpool bear witness to one of the world’s major trading centres in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Travelling across the world with the merchandise and the people were their songs. Those times are gone and so are the vessels, but the music lives on. The August bank holiday weekend will see them return to the docks where they will ring out again.
We have a great line up with groups from Ireland, Belgium and the Netherlands joining artists from the length and breadth of the UK. We bring songs of sailors, their sweethearts, mermaids, pirates and more.
We will be dropping anchor at a number of venues in The Albert Dock and The Baltic Fleet Pub (beware the press gang!) where forgetting temperance you can partake of some fine ales. Today the sailing ships are few and far between, but the songs live on. Come along, fill your lungs with the salt sea air and join in the choruses!
